Black Philanthropy Documentary
Your gift is an investment in a future built on love.
What We're Doing
The Opportunity
Black philanthropy is not new. It has always been here, woven into the way we live, love, celebrate, and care for one another. It shows up in mothers and fathers who nurture every child as their own, in artists who sing, dance, and create to inspire and uplift, in doctors who opened their homes to those turned away, and in teachers who poured pride and dignity into their students.
It lives on today through Black-led nonprofits, giving circles, and businesses that continue a legacy of generosity, service, collective strength, and community care. This documentary is a love letter and a blueprint for all of us.
About this Film
This feature-length documentary uncovers the untold
legacy of Black Coloradans who built a philanthropic culture
that shaped the state.
Through doctors, dancers, teachers, activists, and everyday
families, we reveal a truth too often erased.
Black philanthropy has always been about survival, brilliance, resilience, joy, and love. This film is not just history, it’s a mirror of resilience, a record of giving, and a
blueprint for a more equitable future.

Key Characters
Blending beautiful cinematography with archival materials, music, dance, and spoken word, History Lives Here moves through time to spotlight the teachers, doctors, business owners, and activists who defined philanthropy as mutual care, not charity.
Their contributions formed the backbone of communities that refused to be broken, even as policies and institutions worked against them.
MISSION
To stand in documented truth.
